Input Device

A device (for example, a keyboard) that, through electrical or mechanical action, converts data from the form in which it has been received into electronic signals that can be interpreted by the programmable controller or CPU. Examples are digital encoders, push buttons, limit switches, pressure switches and analogue devices.
